MATT MICEK

Matt Micek was born on June 16, 1951, to his parents, Walter and Josephine Micek. He has two brothers, Thomas and Walter. He is married to Carol, and they have six children: Barbie, Trishia, Eric, Patrick, Brian, & Tom. He is retired from Gilman & also Angie Energy in 2018.

Matt started bowling at the age of nine when his parents and his dad’s 2 brothers bought a bowling alley in Menomonie back in 1960. His parents, uncles, cousins all worked and bowled there and had many good memories. Those memories would keep him interested in bowling to this day. He started league bowling around the age of 12 at their bowling alley. He moved to Janesville in 1978 and started bowling in Janesville leagues in the early 1980s. He always loved bowling at Franklin Lanes and moved over to Playmore Bowl (Riversedge Bowl) when Franklin Lanes was removed.

A big influence in Matt’s career was his uncle Andy. Andy is in the Hall of Fame in Minnesota and was the 1st one to bowl an 800 in the state. Matt wanted to be as good as his uncle and always listened to whatever he said when it came to bowling. Matt learned a lot by just watching his uncle bowl.

The fondest memory in Matt’s career was when he bowled a 300 and had a hole-in-one at Riverside CC within 6 days of each other in September of 2015. He also remembers when he had (2) 299 games in the same year at Franklin Lanes in 1984.

In his career, Matt has bowled in 4 Association Tournaments, 2 State Tournaments, 2 National Tournaments and 3 Association Senior Tournaments. Matt has had a high average of 225, has bowled (6) 300 games, multiple 298 & 299 games and (3) 800 series with his highest series of 822.

When Matt is not bowling, he likes to play golf with his friends & family. He also enjoys playing pool in Janesville leagues. He also loves to go camping and travel with his wife Carol.

Matt will be entering the SCWUSBC Mens Hall of Fame for Superior Performance.
