MICHAEL BENNETT

Michael Bennett was born on November 25, 1966, to his parents, Frank & Lina Bennett and has two brothers, Frank & John. He has been married to Renee for 24 years. They have two children: Alexis & Taylei and 4 grandchildren: Temperance, Nash, Oliver and Brantley. He is currently employed by Blackhawk Technical College as a Maintenance Technician for 36 years.

Mike started bowling around age 10 and quickly learned that this was a sport that he could excel in and could finally beat his brothers. He started bowling junior leagues around age 15 and adult leagues at 17 and has not missed a year since.

Some of the people that influenced Mike were Mim Brose (El-Ra), Chris Brose (El-Ra) and Tom Jones (Riversedge). As Mike would say “there was a wise man that once told me if you pick up your spares you would have a great game”. Thanks Tom. When Mike updates his bowling arsenal, he loves it when Chris Brose tells him “That’s too much ball for you.” The main reason he kept bowling was to bowl with family and friends and to have a great time. He really loved bowling with his dad & uncle in local leagues and going up to state tournament every year.

Mike has been a secretary/treasurer in 3 leagues for 13 years and has been the Parker High School Girls coach for 5 years. He volunteers regularly in all the local association tournaments and has also been a state delegate for the last 7 years where they meet each year for 2 days to go over any issues, rules, awards, etc.

The fondest memory in Mike’s career was when he told everyone he was going to bowl a 300 and an 800 on the last night of the Sunday league at EL Ra Bowl. He bowled the 300 in the second game and when he was in the third game he said “I got this”. Unfortunately, a split in the tenth frame cost him his 800 series and he ended up with 798 series.

In his career, Mike has won the men’s singles event in 1986 and the men’s team event in 1993 for the local association. He has bowled in 37 SCW Association Championship Tournaments, 37 WI State Tournaments, 8 USBC National Tournaments and 5 SCW Association Senior Tournaments. Mike has had a high average of 209, bowled (6) 300 games, multiple 11 in a row games including 298 & 299 games and has multiple Pin Action Post Page 700’s including a 798 which is his highest series.

When Mike is not bowling, he enjoys archery, hunting, fishing, and camping. Going camping with family is something he really looks forward to in order to unwind.

Mike will be entering the SCWUSBC Bowling Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service & Superior Performance.
